CARMELITES CELEBRATE THE FEAST DAY OF ST. THERESE OF THE CHILD JESUS

Middletown, NY, On Tuesday, October 1st the Carmelites of the Saint Elias Province celebrated the Feast Day of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, Carmelite Saint and Doctor of the Church. Morning Mass was celebrated by Father Nicholas Blackwell, O.Carm. at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, New York.

After Mass, there was a French-themed brunch, featuring such dishes as quiche, followed by a delicious dessert of eclairs. Luncheon was followed by an art expression and a talk delivered by the Shrine Director, Mrs. Carol Bezak.

October 1st also kicked off the St. Elias Province’s Year of Vocations. The Inaugural Mass was celebrated at 7:00PM at the Shrine. Father Mario Esposito, O.Carm., Prior Provincial was the celebrant at the Mass and Father Francis Amodio, O.Carm., Vocation Director gave the homily. Beautiful red roses were blessed and distributed to the congregation by Carmelite Friars and Novices. (for more information on vocations, please contact the Vocation Department at (845) 344-2225).

The Feast Day was celebrated in all of our Carmelite parishes, including the Commissariat of Saint Joseph in Vietnam who shared some photos with us.
