EIGHT CARMELITE BROTHERS PROFESS SIMPLE VOWS OF OBEDIENCE, POVERTY & CHASTITY

Carmelite Simple Profession

June 8 – On a beautiful Monday morning at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Middletown, New York, under all due precautions and limits imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Carmelite Friars of the Province of St. Elias and the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary celebrated the simple profession of vows of our novices Luis Alberto Sibaja Casas, Barry Dennis Dineen, Dominic Nhat Tan Huynh, Gregg Jude Durham, Ramon Coutino Lopez, Joseph Mary Luong Van Nguyen, Nicholas Dat Thanh Duong and Joseph Titus Hung Van Nguyen.

The ceremony was carefully prepared by the novices and, accompanied by fine singing and assistance at the altar, was a true act of worship to God as the Brothers professed their vows in Mary’s Carmelite Order.

The celebrant of the Mass was Father Mario Esposito, O.Carm., Prior Provincial of the St. Elias Province and the Principal con-celebrant and Homilist was Father William Harry, O.Carm., Prior Provincial of the Province of the Most Pure Heart of Mary.

Because of the limited attendance, the ceremony was live-streamed for family, friends, and friars. The newly professed Brothers, who received the white cloak during the Mass, are now assigned to various houses to continue their studies. May God bless and guide them through every step of their Carmelite vocation.
