The Annual General Meeting of the Commissariat in Vietnam 2023
The Annual General Meeting of the Commissariat of St. Joseph in Vietnam was held on November 14, 2023, at the Vinh Phuc Retreat House. Attending it were Very Rev. Mario Esposito O.Carm., Prior Provincial of the North American Province of Saint Elias; Rev. Joseph Hung Tran, O.Carm., Commissary Provincial of the Commissariat of St. Joseph in Vietnam; and all members of the Commissariat.
In the afternoon of the first day, the meeting started with the reports of the Prior Provincial and the Commissary Provincial. The invited guest speaker, who was Dr. Lan Hai, then shared her knowledge on Moderation in Food, Drink, and Alcohol with the group.

On the second day, the Committee of Carmelite Nuns and Sisters reported on its general state as well as the challenges and benefits that the committee confronted. After that report, the Vocation, Formation, Finance, Lay Carmelites, and Confraternity of the Scapular were also reported. On the same morning, Rev. Joseph Hung Tran presented the ongoing Vietnam Project. In the afternoon of the second day, Very Rev. Mario Esposito, O.Carm., finally shared an article regarding sexual misconduct and the Praesidium protocol. The second day of the AGM concluded with Mass for all Carmelite Souls.

On the third day, the members attended Sister Maria Dung Nguyen, ACI.’s lecture on the Spiritual Health and the management of Feelings. After the break, the members listened to some updates regarding the new community in Buon Me Thuot, including its opportunities and difficulties; the process of the future shrine of Our Lady of Scapular; the Xuan Son project; and the new building for priests. An open forum and responses to several inquiries followed. The third day ended with a Thanksgiving Mass to honor Saint Joseph, which concluded the AGM 2023. At Mass, Brothers JB. The Hoang, O.Carm., and Paul Tuan Dang, O.Carm., were instituted in the ministry of acolytes. Brother Vincent Tai Vu, O.Carm., was instituted in the ministry of lector.
