Three Carmelite Friars Profess their Solemn Vows in Saigon, Vietnam

On November 23, 2024, the Carmelite Order joyously celebrated the solemn profession of vows by Brothers Dominic Therese Nhat Huynh, O.Carm., Joseph Mary Luong Nguyen, O.Carm., and Nicholas of the Cross Dat Duong, O.Carm. The Holy Mass, held at Chau Binh Parish in Saigon, Vietnam, was a testament to the dedication and spiritual commitment of these three brothers as they pledged their lives to the service of God and the Carmelite Order.

The Very Reverend Mario Esposito, O.Carm., Prior Provincial of the North American Province of Saint Elias, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, while the homily was delivered by Reverend Joseph Hung Tran, Commissary Provincial of Vietnam. Their words inspired and encouraged the newly professed brothers, emphasizing the profound significance of their vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience in today’s world.

The ceremony was enriched by the participation of concelebrating priests from within and beyond the Carmelite Order, a vivid symbol of the universal nature of the Church and the bonds of fraternity within the priesthood. The congregation included family members, fellow religious brothers and sisters, friends, and benefactors, all of whom have supported and nurtured the vocations of Brothers Dominic Therese, Joseph Mary, and Nicholas.

The solemn vows mark a pivotal moment in the spiritual journey of the three brothers, signifying their complete dedication to the Carmelite way of life. The celebration at Chau Binh Parish was marked by deep spirituality, heartfelt prayers, and a sense of communal joy, as those present witnessed the commitment of these men to a life centered on contemplation, community, and service.

As Brothers Dominic Therese Nhat Huynh, Joseph Mary Luong Nguyen, and Nicholas Dat Duong continue their journey in the Order, they carry with them the prayers and support of their community and loved ones. Their solemn profession stands as a beacon of hope and inspiration, reminding all of the enduring power of faith and the beauty of a life devoted to God.
